Text Message Monitoring FAQ

Does my child know they're being monitored?
Yes. Transparency is a core value at YouGuard. When YouGuard Messenger is installed, your child sees a clear indicator that says "Monitored by [Your Name]" in the app. They know you're watching, which actually promotes honesty and open conversation instead of breeding distrust or secretive workarounds.
Does SMS monitoring work on iPhone?
Currently, full SMS and MMS monitoring is available on Android only due to iOS security architecture restrictions. iOS doesn't allow third-party apps to access native message data. However, YouGuard offers YouTube monitoring, Browser Shield (web monitoring), and other features on both iOS and Android. If SMS monitoring is critical, Android is the platform for you.
What happens if they try to uninstall it?
YouGuard uses Device Admin protection on Android. If your child tries to uninstall the app, disable monitoring, or access the Device Admin settings, you get an immediate alert on your parent dashboard. They cannot remove it without your explicit parental permission. This prevents them from silently disabling the app and then claiming it's broken.
Are photos and videos stored securely?
Absolutely. All MMS attachments (photos, videos, documents) are encrypted and stored on Cloudflare R2, a globally distributed, GDPR-compliant storage platform. Your dashboard shows encrypted thumbnails of attachments. Full-resolution files are only accessible to you and approved guardians on the account. No one else can see them.
Does it log deleted messages?
Yes. YouGuard logs all incoming and outgoing messages as they happen. If your child deletes a message from their phone, that message remains in your dashboard history. You'll always have a complete record of what was sent and received, regardless of what's been deleted from their device.
Can multiple parents see the messages?
Yes. YouGuard supports multi-guardian setups. Both parents, co-parents, or other trusted adults can be added to the same child account. All approved guardians see the same message threads, contact history, and real-time alerts. This is especially useful for co-parenting or when grandparents are involved in supervision.
